![]() Introduction.
Arboricultural tree litigation is a highly technical and demanding expertise, which requires both a deep understanding of the subject, and the ability to analyse complex technical issues. What makes me especially formidable in this arena; and one of the country's leading and most sought-after expert witnesses, is my extensive practical experience, coupled with my scientific research background. I pride myself on being able to produce highly technical reports in simple, easily read English, and am adept at conducting "meetings of experts". I have an extremely high record of success when giving oral evidence in cases that go to court.
If you have a tree-related legal problem, please give me a call on 01733 350500. I will be quite willing to provide you with a free, no obligation, fifteen minute consultation.
My professional qualifications are at the highest level. I hold a Doctorate in tree-related research, the National Diploma in Arboriculture (RFS), and the National Diploma in Horticulture (RHS). I originally trained in Local Government, and at the Royal Horticultural Society's Gardens at Wisley. After graduating from Wisley, I became a practical arborist in the gardens, and subsequently became a lecturer in Arboriculture at the Cheshire College of Agriculture. I have been an examiner for both the Royal Horticultural Society, and the Royal Forestry Society.
I am one of the Arboricultural Association Registered consultants, a fellow of the Arboricultural Association, and a fellow of the Institute of Groundsmanship.
During 1997, I was one of three people commissioned by the Arboricultural Association to develop a computerised model capable of assessing the future risk of subsidence damage to buildings when trees are growing close-by. I am one of the most highly regarded specialists in the field of tree-related subsidence, and have been involved in over 3,500 commissions on the subject.
For five years I acted for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister as an Inspecting Officer on Tree Preservation Orders, and Conservation Area appeals, which provided me with an extremely detailed insight into the subject of legal Tree Protection.
I act as an independent tree expert witness, and accept commissions for both Claimants and Defendants. I have experience as a joint independent tree expert witness, and accept both Legal Aid, and criminal case work. My expert witness case load encompasses a wide range of work from small claims between neighbours, to multi-million pound claims between insurance companies.
My specialist areas of tree expert witness expertise include:
Personal injury claims, Subsidence and heave claims, Property damage caused by tree failure, Personal injury caused by climbing accidents, Tree damage claims, Tripping accident claims, Nuisance Claims, Tree Preservation Order appeals, Conservation Area appeals, Town and Country Planning issues, Arboricultural Impact assessments, Planning applications and appeals, High Hedge boundary disputes, The provision of expert opinion on the "foreseeability" of tree-related events.
